Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.
- Scott Adams

Cave paintingThe Harbour School holds a two-week Arts Interim in the Spring. During this time, our students may choose from six areas of study: visual arts, music, drama, dance, film and creative writing. As they work with outside teachers and “mentors” to develop their skills in their area of choice, Harbour School students receive both inspiration and guidance. A school-wide Exhibition Day at the end of the Arts Interim includes both teachers and Harbour School students, with scattered performances, readings and art displays.

While it is impossible for a school of our size to provide extensive training in the arts, we do recognize them and value their importance. We do this by inviting guest artists (as presenters, to teach after-school activities or during Arts Interim), providing flexible scheduling to students whose artistic gifts make demands on their time, and encouraging presentations, interpretations or expression through the arts in all areas of the curriculum.
